Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find the soil attribute data that goes with the coverage I downloaded?
Most of the datasets available from CanSIS are distributed in Shapefile format. All of the associated data tables are bundled as part of the zip file. The attribute tables are dBase tables with a ".dbf" extension, and will be found in the same place as the files comprising the shapefile.
Older datasets on this site are in ARC/INFO Export format, and all associated data tables are bundled as part of the Export file. After you have unzipped and imported the data, you will be able to access the attribute files such as the Component Table from within your GIS software. The attribute files will be found as INFO files in the INFO directory where the coverage was imported.
