- quick clay
- Clayey material having the tendency to change from a relatively stiff condition to a liquid mass when it is disturbed. See also liquefaction (spontaneous liquefaction).
- quicksand
- Sand of low bearing capacity caused by the upward flow of water and the resultant decrease in intergranular pressure.
