Soil Landscapes of Canada - Version 1 Overview

The initial release of Agriculture Canada's Soil Landscapes of Canada (SLC) map coverages in 1991 provided comprehensive soil and landscape information at 1:1,000,000 scale for selected parts of Canada (Shields et al., 1991). Coverages were released as they were produced, but saw some ongoing updates and additions,, most noteably the production of the Component and Carbon Layer files (Soil Carbon Database Working Group, 1993). By May of 1993, the polygons and their associated Component and Carbon Layer files were ready for all of Canada. Version 1 was declared to include all changes to polygons and attributes in associated databases to this point in time.
