Overview of SLC Version 2.0

Version 2.1 has been released

Version 2.0 of the SLCs includes comprehensive soil and landscape information at 1:1,000,000 scale for all of Canada's landmass. This version represents a major improvement to the coverage, quality, and useability of the dataset. Changes for Version 2.0 include:

• all of Canada's landmass is covered (there are now more than 19,000 polygons);
• new polygons have been added to accommodate the ecostratification hierarchy;
• the 28 individual map sheets have been edge-matched to form a seamless national product; and the data has been consolidated into 24 map sheets to facilitate distribution;
• the database model for the attributes has been improved.

Version 2.0 includes changes to polygon boundaries and soil landscape data received up to May 3, 1994. The polygon boundaries are anticipated to remain stable until at least 1996.
