SLC v3.1 is the latest revision of the Soil Landscapes of Canada, which was developed by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada to provide information about the country’s agricultural soils at the province and national levels. SLC v3.1 is a replacement for SLC v3.0. Attribute information for 199 agricultural polygons has been added.
SLC Version 3.1 offers the following advantages over previous versions:
SLC v3.1 provides new soils information at a scale of 1:1 million for the major agricultural regions of Canada. Further releases will provide similar updated information for the rest of the country. The SLC v3.1 map series maintains the linkage to the national Ecological Stratification System for Canada. SLC maps are available in several versions (1.0 to 2.2 and now 3.1) from the AAFC CanSIS web site.

SLC v3.1 can be downloaded from the AAFC CanSIS website in ARC/INFO export and shapefile formats in Decimal Degrees (DD). Component, Soil Name, Soil Layer and Land Area tables are available in .dbf format. The files are available by individual province or as a national cover.

For complete coverages outside the agricultural regions of the country, SLC maps are available in the previous versions 1.0 to 2.2.
