This document shows how the Component Table Extension can be used
to map component table data. The extension is used in step 1 to
produce a dominant value table for KINDMAT for the Saskachewan SLC.
The data is then mapped using the kindmat definition table (step
2), and placed in context using the predefined slchydro.avl legend
(step 3).
Create the summary table
Step 1a: Load the Component Table Mapping Extension
Highlight the project window
select the File menu
select Extensions...
Check Component Table
Click OK
Step 1b: Load the component table and highlight the KINDMAT
field.
In the project window, select Tables
select Add
load the skc001.cmp table
highlight the Kindmat field
Step 1c: Press the button to produce
the dominant value table
Map the output table
Step 2a: Load the appropriate themes into a View
In the project window, select Views
select Add
load the skc001 and skc001hydro themes
Step 2b: Join the Dominant Value table to the
Attributes of table for the SLC theme
In View1, highlight the skc001 theme
click on the button to obtain
the Attributes of the SLC theme
highlight the Sl field in the Dominant Value
table
then highlight the Sl field in the Attributes
of table
select the button to join the
tables
Step 2c: Join the cmp_kindmat description table to the
Attributes of table for the SLC theme
In the project window, select Tables
select Add
load the skc001.cmp_kindmat table
highlight the Kindmat field in the
skc001.cmp_kindmat table
then highlight the DV_Kindmat field in the
Attributes of table
select the button to join the
tables
Step 2d: Set up the legend for the SLC theme
double click on the SLC theme in View1 to bring
up the Legend Editor
set Legend Type to Unique Value
set Values Field to Kindmat!
select suitable colours and select Apply
Step 3a: Load the arcview legend
file for the HYDRO theme and display the hydro theme over the
SLC theme.
