User Interface and instructions

Instructions

There are three buttons added to the Table GUI:

Create Dominant Value Table

Create Percent Distribution Table

Create Summary Statistics Table

These buttons behave, from the user standpoint, in a similar manner. In the table below, an "X" in a button's column indicates an action that is relevant to it.

 

			BEFORE USING THE BUTTONS
X	X	X	Load the component table (the polygon coverage is not necessary for these tools)
		X	Select relevant records (there may be non-applicable components)
		X	If necessary, convert any coded data to a numeric scale
X	X	X	Highlight the field to be summarized
			CLICK ON ONE OF THE BUTTONS
	X		Choose a value for the variable from a scrolling list of existing values
		X	Choose the statistics desired from a scrolling list
X	X	X	Confirm through pop-up boxes the field to use as the primary key (polygon identification code)
X	X	X	Name the final summary table (or use defaults)

At the end of the procedure, the summary table is created on disk and displayed in the project, ready for joining to the .PAT of the soil polygon theme. Interim tables and fields will have been deleted.

Input requirements

The appropriate component table must be open. The following are the fields which are necessary for this set of scripts.

Component Attribute Table

Field	Description
SL or MAPUNITNOM or User-defined name	Polygon identification code (primary key).
Percent	Percentage occurrence of the particular component
<var>	Variable to be mapped

Output Tables

After creating and deleting some interim summary tables, the appropriate summary table is produced. It can be joined to the soil coverage PAT for mapping purposes.

Summary Dominant Value Table

Field	Description
SL or MAPUNITNOM or User-defined name	Primary key
DV_<var>	The class of <var> with the dominant value
DV_Percent	The dominant value percentage

 
 

Summary Percent Distribution Table

Field	Description
SL or MAPUNITNOM or User-defined name	Primary key
Percent_<class>	The sum of percentages for <var> for the <class>

 
 

Summary Statistics Table

Count	The number of relevent components summarized
