Brunisolic Gray Brown Luvisol

The soil is in native condition (undisturbed by agriculture).

The soil material is primarily composed of mineral particles.

The water table is present in the soil during an unspecified period.

The growth of plant roots is not restricted by any soil layer.

Water is removed from the soil readily but not rapidly. Excess water flows downward readily into underlying pervious material or laterally as subsurface flow. Soils have intermediate available water storage capacity (4-5 cm) within the control section, and are generally intermediate in texture and depth. Water source is precipitation. On slopes subsurface flow may occur for short durations, but additions are equaled by losses.

Used where there is evidence that the lacustrine materials were deposited in contact with glacial ice. One of the following characteristics must be present:

• kettles or an otherwise irregular surface that is neither simply the result of normal settling and compaction in silt nor the result of piping
• slump structures resulting from loss of support caused by melting of retaining ice
• presence of numerous ice-rafted stones in the lacustrine silts.

Very Coarse (USDA Texture Classes: VCS,CS,S,GS,CBS).
